Spirax Sarco Type 20 and Type 40 direct steam injection (SI) humidifiers are designed to inject dry steam into duct systems for humidification, ensuring effective mixing of steam and air, adding moisture to the airflow upstream, and preventing water carryover.

Available Models

The SI system is available in Type 20 and Type 40 models. Each model is available with 13 standard lance lengths to suit duct widths from 280mm to 3950mm. The humidifier model is selected according to the steam humidification capacity.

Control Valves and Actuators

Standard configurations of Spirax Sarco control valves, electric actuators, and pneumatic actuators are shown in the selection table. The equipment can be supplied without a control valve and/or actuator where required; other types can also be supplied subject to order.

Assembly

When Spirax Sarco supplies the control valve, the control valve and separator are assembled together. Where required, the actuator can be installed on the control valve and commissioned for the specified control signal. If a control valve is not ordered, pipe connector accessories (see TI-P795-01) will be installed on the separator and supplied with it.

Each lance and separator is supplied with 2 x 8 mm O/D compression tube connections (5). Separator drain connection ‘Q’ should be connected to a Spirax Sarco float steam trap with automatic air vent (13). The tracing system should be fitted with a Spirax Sarco MST21 balanced pressure steam trap with an ‘E’ capsule (10). These steam traps must be ordered separately.
