Description
Spirax Sarco BCV blowdown control valves use a Spira-trol valve body and are specifically designed for steam boiler blowdown and blowdown service in other high-pressure systems or low-flow applications. They are normally used with a blowdown controller to form an automatic BCV control system. Valve flow is regulated by controlling stem travel. BCV blowdown valves feature erosion-resistant seats and high shutoff tightness. A ¼” BSP tapped port is provided at the bottom of the valve for installation of a sample cooler.

Operation
BCV blowdown control valves are factory-set in the closed position.
-
Electric configuration: When the control signal is applied to the control valve, the valve opens to the position set by the internal limit switch.
-
Pneumatic configuration: When the solenoid valve opens, compressed air enters the actuator and opens the valve to the preset travel position.

Pressure/Temperature Limits
Pressure/temperature limits vary according to the model and connection standard, as follows:
-
BCV4 series: Valve body pressure classes include PN40, PN63 and PN100. Each class has specified values for maximum allowable pressure, maximum allowable temperature, minimum allowable temperature, maximum operating pressure (saturated steam), maximum operating temperature and minimum operating temperature. The maximum hydrostatic test pressure is 1.5 times PMA.
-
BCV6 series: Valve body pressure classes cover different pressure ratings under EN, ASME and JIS / KS standards. Maximum allowable pressure, maximum allowable temperature and other parameters are specified for each rating. The maximum hydrostatic test pressure is 1.5 times PMA.
-
BCV7 series: Valve body pressure classes include PN25, ASME class 125 or ASME class 250, and JIS / KS 10K. Corresponding pressure/temperature parameters and maximum hydrostatic test pressures are specified for each rating.
-
BCV8 series: Valve body pressure classes include PN63 or PN100, ASME class 600, and JIS / KS 30K or 40K. Pressure/temperature parameters and maximum hydrostatic test pressures are specified for each rating.
