Spirax Sarco BT1050 boiler blowdown controller is a timer for controlling the bottom blowdown valve. It allows the bottom blowdown valve to open and remove settled solids, which could otherwise accumulate and eventually damage the boiler. BT1050 has three timers that can be configured with different cycle intervals and durations. For example, up to 3 blowdown cycles per day can be selected from Monday through Friday. The timer can also set the priority sequence for boiler blowdown.

The product is available for panel, DIN rail, or baseplate mounting and is powered by a 99 to 264 Vac supply. The front panel includes an LCD display and a five-button keypad. A test function provides a diagnostic tool for users. BT1050 can communicate with adjacent devices via infrared. It can be configured as a slave or master and connected to a two-wire or four-wire EIA/TIA-485 multidrop network. Up to 9 BT1050 (or BT1000) units can be installed and used for multiple-boiler blowdown applications.

Safety Information, Installation, and Maintenance

This document does not contain sufficient information for safely installing the product. Pay particular attention to the hazards associated with working on one boiler while other boilers remain in operation.

• Warning:

Disconnect the power supply before installing the controller because the power supply terminals are exposed.

• Use only the screws supplied with the product.

• Do not install outdoors without additional weather protection.

• Do not drill holes in the product or use self-tapping screws.

• Caution: A 15 mm clearance is required between multiple controllers for cooling.

• Installation/environmental conditions: Install the product in an environment that minimizes exposure to heat, vibration, shock, and electrical interference. The product must be installed inside a suitable industrial control panel or fireproof enclosure to provide protection against impact and environmental conditions. The minimum requirement is IP54 (EN 60529) or Type 3, 3S, 4, 4X, 6, 6P, and 13 (UL50/NEMA 250). The product can be DIN rail, baseplate, or panel mounted. A panel bezel is provided.
