Spirax Sarco FT44 carbon steel float steam trap (DN15-DN50) features stainless steel internals, an integrated automatic air vent, and flanged connections. Body and cover castings are manufactured by TÜV-certified foundries. The trap can be serviced in line without removing it from the pipeline. Horizontal connections are standard; the vertical connection version is FT44V, with flow from top to bottom. FT44 uses a BP99/32 capsule and can be used with superheated steam up to 150℃ at 0 bar g and 50℃ at 32 bar g.

Standards

This product complies with European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC. Marking can be provided when required.

Options

Manual adjustment needle valve (model FT44-C), for horizontally connected FT44 only. This option also provides steam lock release (SLR) functionality. Contact Spirax Sarco for more information. If required, a 3/8”BSP or NPT threaded hole can be drilled in the top of the cover for installation of a balance pipe, or a 3/8”BSP or NPT threaded hole can be drilled in the bottom for installation of a blowdown valve. These requirements must be specified when ordering.

Certificates

An EN10204 3.1 certificate is available for this product. Note: specify the certificate requirement when ordering.

Sizes and Pipe Connections

• Sizes: DN15, DN20, DN25, DN40 and DN50.

• Horizontal installation version: when facing the valve body, flow direction is from left to right for DN15-DN25 and from right to left for DN40 and DN50. Standard flanges are EN1092 PN40, with flange end-to-end dimensions conforming to EN26554 (Series 1). JIS/KS20, ANSI B 16.5 class150 and 300 flanges, and extended face-to-face dimensions are available when required.

• Vertical installation version: flow direction is from top to bottom. Standard flanges are EN1092 PN40, with flange end-to-end dimensions conforming to EN26554 (Series 1). JIS/KS and ANSI B16.5 class150 and Class 300 flanges are available when required. ANSI flange bolt holes have UNC threads; JIS/KS flange bolts have metric threads.

Operating Range

• Body design conditions: PN40

• PMA maximum allowable pressure: 40 bar g@ 100℃

• TMA maximum allowable temperature: 300℃@27.5 bar g

• Minimum allowable temperature: -10℃

• PMO maximum operating pressure with saturated steam: 32 bar g @ 239℃. Note: PMO equals DPMX for DN40 and DN50 traps.

• TMO maximum operating temperature: 285℃@28.5 bar g

• Minimum operating temperature: 0℃. For low-temperature applications, consult Spirax Sarco.

• Sizes DN15, DN20, DN25: FT44-4.5 4.5 bar; FT44-10 10 bar; FT44-14 14 bar; FT44-21 21 bar; FT44-32 32 bar

• Sizes DN40, DN50: FT44-4.5 4.5 bar; FT44-10 10 bar; FT44-14 14 bar; FT44-21 21 bar; FT44-32 32 bar

• Maximum cold hydraulic test pressure: 60 bar g. Note: after internal components have been installed, test pressure must not exceed DPMX. Note: operating pressure for this trap must not exceed 48 bar, otherwise internal components may be damaged.

Installation note: install the unit according to the flow direction indicated on the body and ensure that the float arm is horizontal so the float can move freely in the vertical direction.
