Description
Spirax Sarco 3” (DN80) and 4” (DN100) FT450 is a high-capacity float and thermostatic steam trap.
The float regulates the position of the double-seat main valve, allowing condensate to discharge continuously at the same rate as it enters the trap. Air that accumulates in the trap during startup or operation is discharged through the integral bimetallic air vent into the riser connected downstream of the main valve mechanism housing.
This steam trap can be used in superheated steam systems within the pressure-containing design conditions and can operate against any backpressure below the inlet pressure. Capacity is determined by the differential pressure (inlet pressure minus outlet pressure).
Spirax Sarco FT450 carbon steel float steam traps (3”, 4”) use an internal float mechanism to discharge condensate continuously at saturation temperature. The integral thermostatic air vent removes non-condensable gases.

Product Description
The trap is a mechanically operated float type with a carbon steel body, stainless steel internals, and horizontal connections. The bottom of the body includes an integral mounting bracket with drilled mounting feet. The trap has an integral thermostatic air vent and a horizontally split body. All internals are fully serviceable without removing the inlet or outlet piping.
Installation
Install the trap below or near the equipment drain outlet, with a strainer upstream and a full-port isolation valve for servicing. Bolt the mounting bracket to a horizontal support. For detailed information, refer to the Installation and Maintenance Guide.
Maintenance
The product can be serviced in line without removing the piping. Before performing any maintenance, completely isolate the upstream and downstream sides of the trap. The trap should be disassembled periodically to inspect and clean the main valve assembly and air vent valve. For detailed information, refer to the Installation and Maintenance Guide supplied with the product.
