Other Options
-
Heavy-duty spring for boiler feedwater service, with a 700mbar opening pressure and maximum size up to DN65.
-
Viton soft seat for oil, gas and air systems.
-
EPDM soft seat for water systems.
Standards and Certificates
-
Complies with European Pressure Equipment Directive 97 / 23 / EC.
-
Standard valve assemblies comply with EN 12266 rate E. Valve assemblies complying with EN 12266 rate D are available on request, while soft seats can comply with EN 12266 rate A under certain differential pressure conditions.
-
A test report is available. If an EN 10204 3.1 material certificate is required, specify this when ordering.
Size and Flange Compatibility
Available sizes are DN15, DN20, DN25, DN32, DN40, DN50, DN65, DN80 and DN100. Valves can be installed between BS 10 Tables ‘E’ and ‘H’, EN 1092 PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25 and PN40, and JIS 5, JIS 10, JIS 16 and JIS 20 flanges. DN40, DN50, DN80 and DN100 cannot be installed between JIS 5 flanges, while DN65 and DN80 cannot be installed between BS 10 ‘E’ flanges.
Materials
The body, disc, spring retainer, standard spring, heavy-duty spring and high-temperature spring are primarily manufactured from austenitic stainless steel. The heavy-duty spring is manufactured from Nimonic 90 nickel alloy.
Operating Range and Limitations
-
DCV3LT can be used down to -60°C, while the minimum temperature for DCV3 is -10°C.
-
DCV3 fitted with a high-temperature spring, or DCV3/DCV3LT without a spring, can be used in specific areas.
-
The operating range of products with different seat materials, including Viton and EPDM seats, is limited by the seat material.
-
Parameters related to the valve body design rating, including PMA maximum allowable pressure and TMA maximum allowable temperature, vary by valve type. Operating pressures and temperatures also vary according to the spring type.
-
The maximum design cold hydraulic test pressure is 60 bar g.

Opening Pressure (mbar)
The opening pressure of standard and high-temperature springs under zero-flow conditions varies by valve size. When a lower opening pressure is required, a springless check valve can be used, provided the pipeline is vertical and flow is upward from bottom to top. The opening pressure of the heavy-duty spring is 700 mbar.
Ordering Example
For example, order a DN50 DCV3 check valve from Spirax Sarco, manufactured from stainless steel, for installation between EN1092 PN25 flanges.
Installation and Maintenance
For details, refer to the installation and maintenance instructions supplied with the product (IM-P134-08). Install the DCV check valve according to the flow-direction arrow on the valve body. Spring-loaded check valves can be installed in any orientation. When a springless check valve is installed in a vertical pipeline, flow must be upward from bottom to top. The cam-shaped valve body design allows installation with various flange types. Flanges, bolts and nuts are supplied by the installer. Disc check valves have no spare parts and must not be used in applications with severe pulsation.
Disposal
When products containing fluoroelastomer components are used near 315℃ or at higher temperatures, the fluoroelastomer may decompose and form hydrofluoric acid. Avoid skin contact with and inhalation of this acid. Dispose of fluoroelastomer components according to the method recommended in the installation and maintenance instructions. Proper disposal will not create an environmental hazard.
