Description

Spirax Sarco LC2650 level controller is designed for conductive fluids and provides on/off or modulating level control for boilers, tanks, and vessels. Operating limits are 32bar@239°C. Two alarm channels can be independently configured for high- or low-level alarms. The minimum conductivity is 5us/cm or 5ppm when used with LP20 and PA20.

The front panel features an LCD and five buttons. In operating mode, the LCD displays operating information and can show level fluctuation trends over a configured period. Common data is displayed across several sequential screens during operation. The test menu provides diagnostic functions, including input measurement and output setup from the front panel. All commissioning parameters are password protected to prevent unwanted or incorrect settings.

The product can communicate with adjacent products through an infrared bus and can be assigned as a master or slave. Panel, DIN rail, or baseplate mounting is available.

Approvals

LC2650 complies with the EMC Directive 2017/30/EU and its requirements for heavy industrial environments, with a detailed EMC assessment. Reference: UK Supply BH LC2650 2008.
Complies with the Low Voltage Directive and the safety requirements of EN 61010-1:2001 for electrical equipment used for measurement, control, and laboratory applications.
Type tested as a level controller in accordance with Vd TÜV Water Control Equipment 100(07:2006) and UL listing (pending).

Applications

On/off operation: Pump on/off control, 2 alarm outputs, and an isolated 4 - 20mA level output. On/off solenoid valve control can also be provided instead of pump control.
Modulating control: Control valve operation by valve motor drive or 4 - 20mA control signal, 2 alarm outputs, and an isolated 4 - 20mA level output.
Two-element or three-element modulating control: Control valve operation by valve motor drive or 4 - 20mA control signal, 2 alarm outputs, isolated 4 - 20mA level output, steam flowmeter feedback signal, and feedwater flow forward signal.

Input Function

LC2650 compares the input signal with the user-defined set point and changes the output signal to control the water level in a boiler or tank.

Outputs

The product control signal can be connected to a pump or modulating valve. Relay outputs are also provided for high- and low-level alarms, together with isolated 0 - 20mA or 4 - 20mA retransmission. Parameters can be transmitted through RS485/MODBUS communications.

Additional Features

An additional filter provides increased damping under fluctuating conditions.

Safety Information, Installation, and Maintenance

Warning: This document does not contain sufficient information for safe product installation. The product operates at hazardous voltages. Refer to the installation and maintenance instructions supplied with the product before installation.

Caution: Ensure that there is no condensation inside the product before installation and connection of the power supply. The product can be DIN rail, baseplate, or panel mounted and is supplied with an instrument bezel. It must be installed in a suitable industrial control panel or flameproof enclosure to provide protection against impact and environmental conditions. A minimum rating of IP54 (EN 60529) or Type 3, 3S, 4, 4X, 6, 6P, and 13 (UL50/NEMA 250) is required. Spirax Sarco supplies suitable plastic and metal enclosures.

Do not install outdoors without additional weather protection.
Do not attempt to open the product; it is sealed and contains no replaceable parts or internal switches.
Do not obstruct the infrared beam between products.

In the UK, follow IEE regulations (BS 7671). In other regions, follow the applicable regulations. All wiring materials and procedures must comply with the relevant EN and IEC standards.

No special servicing, preventive maintenance, or product inspection is required. Boiler water level controls and alarms must be tested and checked. Health and safety guidance BG01 and INDG436 provides general guidance.
