Description
Spirax Sarco SP400 electrical smart positioner is a loop-powered device capable of driving linear and 90° rotary pneumatic valves. The 4 - 20mA input signal determines the valve set point. Precise control is achieved through valve position feedback, which automatically changes the air output pressure to overcome stem friction and fluid forces and maintain the required valve position. Valve position is shown continuously as a travel percentage on the digital display. Position feedback is obtained using non-contact Hall-effect technology. The pneumatic system uses piezoelectric valve technology, ensuring high resolution, high reliability, vibration resistance and very low air consumption at steady state.
SP400 includes a wide range of smart functions. Software programming is performed through a setup menu with alphanumeric data shown on the keypad and LCD display. The absence of a mechanical connection between the valve and positioner greatly simplifies installation and reduces the time required. The software is designed for simple operation: commissioning requires only mounting SP400 on the valve and pressing one button. SP400 is supplied with NAMUR-standard mounting kits for yoke- or pillar-mounted actuators. For 90° rotary valves, a mounting kit compliant with VDI/VDE 3845 is available.
Air Supply
SP400 smart positioner must use high-quality air. Spirax Sarco MPC2 filter regulator or an equivalent product must be used. Mounting brackets are available for installing MPC2 on the actuator. For more product data on MPC2, refer to TI-P054-04.
