Description

Spirax Sarco TD16 and TD16F thermodynamic steam traps. TD16 is designed for low-capacity steam mains and tracing lines, and for other applications where pressure, temperature, and flow rate are within the specified limits. Maximum operating pressure is 16 bar g.

Options

  • Insulation cap: The insulation cap prevents excessive heat loss from the steam trap in low-temperature, windy, or rainy environments, helping prevent excessively frequent operation.

  • Integral blowdown valve: Refer to TI - P153 - 01. A 1/4” BSP threaded hole can be drilled in the strainer cover to install a blowdown valve.

Installation

Horizontal installation is preferred, although the steam trap can be installed in other positions.

Ordering Information

Example: 1 - Spirax Sarco TD16 thermodynamic steam trap, 1/2” BSP threaded connection.

Ordering Spare Parts

Order spare parts according to the descriptions in the spare parts list, specifying the steam trap model and size. Example: strainer screen and gasket for a 1/2” TD16 thermodynamic steam trap.

Maintenance

  • Before carrying out any maintenance, ensure that the isolation valves upstream and downstream of the steam trap are closed, the pipeline is depressurized, and the steam trap has cooled to room temperature.

  • Disc and seat maintenance: If an insulation cap is fitted, remove it first. Then loosen the cover with a standard wrench. Do not use an adjustable wrench or pipe wrench, as this may damage the cover. If the disc and seat surfaces are only slightly worn, use lapping compound and lap the disc and seat separately using a figure-eight motion. If the wear is too severe to be corrected by lapping, machine and polish the seat surface and replace the disc. Lapping must not remove more than 0.25mm. During reassembly, position the disc with its grooved side in contact with the seat surface. Tighten the cover without a gasket, applying a suitable high-temperature anti-seize grease.

  • Cleaning or replacing the strainer screen: Loosen the strainer cover with a wrench, remove the screen, and clean it. Replace the screen if it is damaged. During reassembly, insert the screen into the cover and screw the cover into the valve. Apply a small amount of molybdenum disulfide lubricant to the leading threads, ensure that the gasket surfaces are clean, and tighten the strainer cover to the recommended torque.
